Body Stress Release - Testimonial

Bronwyn Bossley - Body Stress Release Therapist

The migraines started when I was twelve. At the time I was told it was just puberty and that I would grow out of it. The pain in my head was unbearable and would make me feel so nauseous that eventually I would vomit. The minute I finished vomiting the pain would disappear completely. This pattern continued until my mid twenties, regularly. The migraines then changed to several hours of vomiting before easing. I could find nothing that caused them. It was during this time that a Doctor prescribed a pethidine shot. I found that this was the best way to deal with the headaches as they were still occurring regularly. During each of my pregnancies the migraines intensified, and I just had to suffer through them as I did not want to have the pethidine.

As the children grew, I continued to suffer the migraines, but by now I suffered diarrhea as well whilst experiencing them. I returned to getting a shot of pethidine whenever I had one, as this was the only thing that relieved them. By this time, I found that glare or sitting with my head at an angle for too long would bring one on. I did still get them from "out of the blue" though.

In my late forties, the migraines began changing again. I was now experiencing an "aura" at the onset of a migraine. My peripheral vision would begin to close in, I would become clammy and pale. Then the pain, vomiting and diarrhea would begin. Also by this time, pethidine was no longer available and I was given injections of Tramadol instead. This was nowhere near as effective as the pethidine.

I began having regular massage and chiropractic treatments which did help marginally. I still received tramadol shots from the doctor whenever needed. In my early fifties, I came across something called AtlasPROfilax. It was a gentle manipulation of my neck and hips to get the base of my skull sitting in alignment on the top of my spine. This treatment gave me relief from migraines for twelve months. I returned to the practitioner when the migraines returned, but he said that there was nothing more that he could do for me.

By this time, I was now getting two types of migraine. One I called "sudden onset". These ones came out of nowhere, for no rhyme or reason. The second type originated from my neck. My father suffered terribly from migraines originating from his neck, so I think they are hereditary.

I had to have a hysterectomy when I was 53. Many women told me that this would put an end to the migraines as it had done for them. Unfortunately, it made no difference at all. I saw an article about having Daith piercing done to relieve headaches/migraines. So, in an attempt to rid myself of these debilitating attacks, I got both of my Daiths (the cartilage in the middle of my ear) pierced. These piercings have stopped my "sudden onset" headaches.Although I had been relieved of one type of migraine, there was not a day that went by that I did not have a headache in some shape or form. It was only the severity that changed. I was now also heavily reliant on the use of Immigran and Relpax in order to be able to function and go to work.

At 57 years old and suffering yet another near migraine, I walked past my local health food shop and saw a sign advertising Body Stress Release. In despair, I walked into the shop and booked an appointment with Bronny that afternoon. After the first treatment, I slept the best that I had in a long time. After the second treatment a few days later, I was feeling much better and no real headaches during the next week.. After the third treatment, I did not have a headache for over a month.

As Bronny was away, I was unable to have another treatment for nearly six weeks and the headaches started to return. As I write this, I have just had my second treatment since Bronny's return. I am feeling very good and looking forward to a good night's sleep. I am very confident that I have, after 45 years, finally found an effective, drug-free treatment for my migraines. I can certainly recommend Body Stress Release.

What is Remedial Massage Therapy?

Anna Wilson - Remedial Massage Therapist

As a society we are becoming increasingly invested in our optimal health and longevity. Many people are conscious of the infinite benefits that holistic remedies and natural therapies provide, however, it is still prevalent that modalities such as these are grossly misunderstood. As a Remedial Massage Therapist (RMT) I would like to offer clarity and give insight into this particular style of treatment.

Remedial Massage Therapy can be described as the assessment and treatment of soft tissue dysfunctions that cause pain and restrict the body’s natural movement patterns.

It differs from other styles of massage (e.g. Relaxation and Reflexology) as the client undergoes a detailed investigation into their current health status. The RMT performs and records observations, palpation, motion testing and a range of other physical testing procedures, to determine how to best move forward with the treatment.

As mentioned earlier the benefits of Massage are endless. These include increased range of motion and flexibility, helps to relieve muscle tension and stiffness, reduces involuntary muscle spasms, enhances athletic performance, improves circulation of blood and lymph fluids, helps reduce blood pressure, facilitates the body’s natural healing process, reduces pain and swelling, and can help lessen the affects of anxiety and mental fatigue.

I hope to see you in store, to find out how massage therapy can help you.

Look out for my next article, where I will delve into common conditions of the shoulder and how to facilitate healing.

Thanks,

Anna (RMT) xx
