Body Tonics Does your body need a boost?

Now in the last month of winter we may be feeling like we need a bit more of a boost for your body to feel motivated and health.

Here are some fantastic body tonics to give you a up and go.

Licorice is a adaption herb and can assist in times of stress. Traditionally used to help remove catarrh and temporarily relieve coughs by loosening mucous and assisting with expectoration. Also used to help digestion and provide relief of mild digestive disorders such as indigestion, distention, belching and flatulence.

Spirulina is rich in phytonutrients, carotenoids and chlorophyll and is perfect for those wanting a strong healthy immune system or for people recuperating, run down or under the weather. Spirulina is the highest iron source, perfect for people feeling worn out, run down, tired or exhausted.

Ginseng optimises physical performance by economising energy production and utilisation in the body. Energy also improves resistance to stress, increases drive and enhances recovery during rest. It helps relieve fatigue, lethargy, irritability, tension, mild anxiety and unrefreshed sleep. Ginseng also promotes a healthy immune system, is an aphrodisiac and helps maintain a healthy heart and circulation.

Leanda Talks about Antioxidants

Leanda Weynton N.D M.D

Naturopath, Nutritionist & medical Herbalist

What is an antioxidant?
Antioxidants occur naturally in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, coffee, tea, wine, and chocolate. While there are thousands of antioxidant compounds out there flavanols (found in chocolate), resveratrol (found in grapes), and lycopene (found in tomatoes). Other popular antioxidants include vitamins A (beta-carotene), C, E, and catechins.
Antioxidants help prevent or stop cell damage caused by oxidants. (Get it? Antioxidants.)
“Oxidants are free radicals ( or nasty substances ) that you find in the environment, but they're also produced naturally in your body due to internal environment coming from medication, drugs, alcohol, unhealthy eating habits, and external factors like pollution, chemicals, air pollution, cigarette smoke ect…..
Your body creates them to help fend off viruses and microbes, but if you have too many oxidants, they can cause serious damage and contribute to certain cancers and heart disease.
So where can you get them in your food

Think : Purple, Red, Blue, Orange and Green produce

Sweet potato, berries, blueberries, gogi berries, eggplant, carrot, green leafy vegetables, green tea Just to name a few………………………
These foods can protect your cells by…..
• Helping to reduce free radical damage in the body due to diet and environmental pollutants
• Provides antioxidants for the maintenance of good health
• Aids in maintaining or improving general wellbeing

"After more than 35 Years of emotional and physical heartache which has manifested into years of ill health, I can finally say I AM FREE.. WOW!! Even writing that makes me smile. Obviously I still need medical treatment, but to have that clarity is so over whelming. I am crying with joy now not sadness and frustration."
