Spring has Sprung

Spring is finally here and as the jasmine blooms and the birds begin to sing, we start to clean off our cobwebs from the cooler months.

Spring is naturally a time to refresh and restart. The natural state of felling as though we’re coming out of hibernation brings us into an energised state and there’s plenty we can do to make sure we’re at our best to enjoy the warmer months ahead.

Our friendly team here at The Healthy Guru are here to help support you in managing your health and can provide a wealth of advice to suit your specific needs.
With the onset of spring comes changes in the weather and an increase in pollen in the air, which can bring on seasonal allergies and hay fever for some.

Our resident Naturopath and Herbalist, Elva Brown, is experienced in helping clients manage symptoms such as runny noses, rashes, watery eyes, itchy nose and eyes, sneezing, congestion and fatigue.

“There are some wonderful liquid herbs that help reduce the severity of spring allergies and hay fever. Individuals have different symptoms and I can assist with making a herbal remedy to suit their individual needs to combat whatever they may be suffering from.” Elva Brown

This spring, Elva has a special to help sufferers manage their symptoms. For just $10, clients will receive a 10-minute consult to establish their individual needs, plus 10% off RRP for a special remedy made by Elva.

We stock a wide range of herbs to help support the upper respiratory tract including Golden Seal, Eyebright, Elderflower and Golden Rod also anti-allergy herbs such as Albizzia and Baical Skullcap.

Echinacea is also extremely effective when dealing with hay fever and sinusitis symptoms and prevention. As well as helping manage the symptoms of hay fever and other allergies, Elva can also help with the detoxing process with St Mary’s Thistle, Dandelion and Globe Artichoke, which aids in digestion.

As nature depicts, spring is the best time to detox our bodies and our Store Manager Sara McCarthy encourages introducing a daily smoothie to not only help detox and shed unwanted winter kilos but help increase energy levels and feel happier.

“Our comfort foods that have kept us satisfied over the cold winter months need to be flushed out. Green smoothies, healthy foods and salads are a great way to help kick-start a cleanse” Sara says.

Sara recommends smoothies that include protein powder for a great morning time breakfast and/or afternoon snack, this will not only keep you full longer but also help curb cravings for sweet food and the potential to binge by keeping your glycaemic index stabilised.

Smoothies are a great way to consume green powders which help cleanse and alkalise us and increase our pre and pro biotic levels in our gut and bowel. Other ingredients can also be added to suit individual needs and we’re happy to help personalise your smoothie for you.

Here at The Healthy Guru we have all your spring allergies covered, from detoxing solutions, trusted supplements to help fast track you to feeling well again, herbals and a wide range of therapies to assist you in relaxing and treating underlying conditions, which inhibit your immune system.
