Echinacea is a great herb for maintaining a healthy immune system and wellbeing
What ailments would benefit from it:
Used to lessen the severity of cold symptoms by providing relief to upper respiratory tract infections. Great for those who have reduced resistance to
colds, lower respiratory conditions, chronic bronchitis, tonsillitis, glandular disorders, syphilis, gastrointestinal conditions, urinary tract infections,
cystitis, kidney infections, hepatitis, ross river virus, mastitis, measles, mumps, for acute infections, shingles, viral, bacterial or parasitic and
chronic infections, laryngitis, mouth ulcers and slows immunological ageing.
Can be used internally and topically for: boils, carbuncles, abscesses, septicaemia, snake bite, insect bites, for slow healing wounds, ulcerated wounds,
eczema and psoriasis .
How does it work in the body:
Immune modulating – a substance that modulates meaning it helps to balance the activity of the immune system, blood purifying, anti inflammatory a substance
that reduces inflammation, has detoxifying effects on the lymphatic tissue which improves immune function. Helps with wound healing.(Bone, K. 2003,2007)
A great immune regulating herb which is so useful for many ailments but one of my go to herbs when I see the congested lymphatic sign in someone’s eyes.
I would consider this herb for anyone who suffers from recurrent infections, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and one of my favourite herbs for shingles
in combination with other herbs
Pretty much one of those herbs which fits into the AMAZING category.
Avoid with known allergy. Caution with immunosuppressive drugs.
