Botanical name: Passiflora incarnata

What ailments would benefit from it:

Anxiety, Nervous symptoms, insomnia, restlessness and irritability with being able to fall asleep, Nervous tachycardia – irregular fast beating heart, Nervous headaches, spasmodic conditions - menstrual cramps, asthma, whooping cough, for obtaining Mild sedation, pain in the facial nerves, rectal and heart- cardiac pain in combination with other herbs, generalized seizures.Topically for burns, scolds, tooth pain, haemorrhoids and ulcers.

How does it works in the body: (Qualities and actions)

Anxiolytic – a substance that alleviates anxiety

Spasmolytic – a substance that relieves smooth muscle spasm

Mild sedative- helps reduce activity, mainly in the nervous system.

Hypnotic - induces drowsiness and sleep

Personal thoughts:

Great for treating insomnia in infants, insomnia in adults resulting from mental worry.Helps with opiate withdrawal, a go to herb for the nervous system especially when exhaustion has taken it’s toll .
