Spring is here! Do you feel that sense of emerging as the spring months are now upon us.
That natural state of feeling like coming out of hibernation, all of a sudden you want to move your body, strip the winter kilos away and enjoy the sun on your skin. The creativeness shines in the kitchen as well with salads, juices and foods that bring vitality are all on the menu.
Well this is you trusting and connecting with the laws of nature.
In many ancient philosophies like chinese and ayurvedic they explain the natural laws of this energy. Working with diet, body therapies and natural medicines to give your whole self the best support in the energy of the emerging spring…..
Spring is a time of birth and new beginnings, it is associated with the element of wood and this refers to living and growing entities like trees, plants and the human body.
Spring is the time for us to reach outward, develop deeper roots and remain flexible. In the body, that means paying attention to your spine, limbs and joints, as well as muscles, ligaments and tendons.
Spring also is a time to love your liver, as this organ works to detoxify the blood and make bile to help metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins. This is where we think spring clean for the body and to do this we need to drink plenty of fluids, add lemon to your water, eat lightly and add more raw foods like greens, sprouts, fruits, nuts and seeds. Try hard to avoid heavy or fried foods and anything with chemical additives.
Since exercise and sweating aids detoxification, spring is a great time to develop a regular exercise program. Get creative in movement like yoga, pilates and nature walks.
In addition to diet and exercise there are other ways to balance yourself in spring. With the wood element energised at this time it governs the early hours of the morning, when we first awake. Just as morning is a great time to plan the day ahead, spring is a great time to look at your life and where you want to be in the future. Take a little time to write a new health/life plan, including goals for how you wish to feel and what you would like to do and see happen.
