This month Empowering You Kinesiology is focusing on Deep Rest through the winter months

People often talk about feeling a bit down through the winter months, unable to get motivated and a general sensation of sluggishness in daily life. For some the colder months bring on a full depression with inability to get out of bed and little hope for the future.
Have you ever thought that maybe humans are supposed to hibernate to some degree for the winter too?

When we look at the word ‘depressed’ phonetically and find ‘deep rest’ it can feel like a heavy burden lifting off our soul. To allow and understand this state of deep rest could alleviate a pressure we put on ourselves to perform in our roles as per usual. This need for hibernation may not be confined to winter for you and you may need some support to discover, define and release the traumas, emotions, beliefs...that are exhausting you at a soul level. Kinesiology offers tools to bring clarity to the situation and therapy to assist you to release and move forward.

Living in a country like Australia and in particular Queensland our winters can seem fairly mild, a few cold days and nights but nothing a woodfire and good jumper can’t fix but that doesn’t mean that our bodies and minds don’t crave a slower pace and a less ‘peopley’ existence.

What I have learnt about myself over the years is I really need to embrace this idea of slowing down, having more alone time and just generally expecting less drive from myself during this time of year. When we don’t acknowledge this and just keep trying to push through we start to feel unproductive, frustrated and exhausted. We may even create an illness just to slow us down and make us rest.

We talk about the ‘Spring Clean’ and the ‘Summertime Fun’. These seasons hold so much energy and motivation and so we seem to be drawn to them and forget about the benefits of setting aside a time for hibernation and rejuvenation.

Hello Winter!

For some this time of year is also hello to itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing and sinuses so clogged your face feels like it might just explode.


These annoying immune responses can be caused by an innumerable number of allergens and sometimes we can go a bit crazy trying to figure out what is upsetting your body. If you do find out what it is for you chances are the thing tips your body over the edge is a tree that blooms so there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Did you know that along with itchy eyes, runny noses, sneezing and sinusitis symptoms like bloating, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, brain fog, fatigue, itchy skin - eczema, psoriasis, and many other body complaints are also being caused by allergens in your body?
Your immune system is constantly working to protect you from outside contaminates, things you put in your body, things you put on your body, things you breath and even things you think. This system works tirelessly for your good but eventually it will reach a burn out point or a stress crisis and you will get a symptom. At this point it is trying to communicate with you that there is a problem that needs your attention. The problem is finding out the who, what, when, where and how of the matter. This is where Kinesiology can be an absolute saviour. Kinesiology is an incredible tool which allows us to use your muscles to communicate with your body. We can ask the who, what, when, where questions and narrow down your immune system stressor. We then can use that information and your muscles to discover exactly how your body needs support. Do you need to change something you are putting on or in your body? Do you need to adapt your environment or thoughts? Do you need some supplementation to get your body back to homeostasis? Using Kinesiology we can test our way through the fog and symptoms to define what YOUR body needs! Many of us are carrying around low grade viruses in our bodies that keep our poor immune systems at work 24/7 year after year and eventually you get a symptom. How many of you have experienced a symptom like bloating so you try to change your diet because everyone says gluten causes bloating and it helps to a certain degree but doesn’t completely resolve your symptom so you either give up and go back to your old eating habits and try supplements to alleviate your problem this also reduces your symptoms but not completely. This process goes on and on….

Kinesiology can help you discover that your body isn’t tolerating gluten at the moment due to a virus that needs to be dealt with so your immune system can catch a breath.
